Grasping Giza (title) – pastel (medium) - 2019 This piece of artwork is a study of a masculine hand sculpture grasping a pyramid shape. I used a 2b pencil to lightly sketch out my drawing then used a gray-scale of assorted pastels to complete it. I chose this subject because of the complexity of the hand and thought it would be a great challenge. I enjoyed painting this piece because of the lighting. I thought the contrast of the drastic light on the knuckles and deep shadows between the fingers made the piece very interesting.
